A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS | BURLINGTON EDITION

If you've been following along since last Monday, you would know that I started a new edition of A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS - a list of my recommendations of places to go and things to do in Burlington, Vermont. I fell in love with Burlington long before we moved here this summer, but I've gotten to learn so much about the local scene since then. Of course live music is a big part of that scene, so I end up frequenting such venues more often than not. Here are a few of my favorites!

Part Two:

LIVE MUSIC VENUES

1. Nectar’s/Club Metronome

188 Main Street

No trip to Burlington is complete without visiting the historic Nectar’s - especially if you are a jam band fan. With “Fresh music served daily” and amazing gravy fries taboot this is a must-stop spot. It’s obviously cool to visit the iconic small venue that Phish played in years ago, but these days you’ll be able to check out some awesome bands, both local and national, seven nights a week.

2. Radio Bean | ¡Duino! (Duende) | Light Club Lamp Shop

8 10 and 12 North Winooski Avenue

I remember the first time I ever walked into the Light Club Lamp Shop my jaw dropped to the floor at just how unique and eclectic the space was. The venue is exceptionally decorated, with lamps covering the walls and ceilings. I soon came to learn that it is connected to both ¡Duino! (Duende) and Light Club Lamp Shop, all offering a fun twist on Burlington nightlife. Between the three you will find a full service bar, restaurant, live music venue, lamp lounge, craft cocktail destination, and street food haven. It's no wonder why they consider themselves a "bohemian utopia!"

3. Higher Ground

1214 Williston Road

Some of my favorite nights out in Burlington have been spent at Higher Ground. Not only do we have a ton of friends that work and throw events there, but Twiddle has played there many, many times. Over the next few months there are some amazing bands coming through town that I can’t wait for (and who knows what they might add!):

2/2 Turkuaz / Disco Phantom 2/22 Ryan Montbleau Band / Yes Darling 2/28 Nahko / The Late Ones / Xiuhtezcatl 3/10 Trevor Hall 4/5 Mike Gordon 4/6 Start Making Sense: Talking Heads Tribute 4/13 Pigeons Playing Ping Pong / Swimmer 5/26 Fleet Foxes

Hopefully you'll be able to check out at least one of these venues if you're in the Burlington area.

Let me know by commenting if there's somewhere you've been that I should head over to for a show!

xoxo. Alexandra
