It was so exciting to head out to west last weekend for my first event and some touring with Twiddle. Taraleigh and I arrived in Old Vegas on Thursday so we had a nice amount of time to hang out and explore before the boys got into town. We walked along Fremont Street, ate some amazing sushi, and headed over to the Neon Boneyard (which we’ve both wanted to see for years!). The experience was honestly SO COOL! In the past when I've gone to Vegas, the weekends were filled with debauchery - so it was so nice to journey off the strip while we were there and see how Vegas USED TO BE. Our tour guide at the Neon Boneyard was insanely knowledgeable and told us all about the beginnings of the city and its growth under the influence of the casino kingpins and mobsters. The boneyard was eerily beautiful with over 150 neon displays, each chipped, faded, and filled with broken bulbs.

The Museum maintains all of the signs along Fremont Street as well as those in the Boneyard collection

The entrance of the Boneyard is housed within the restored lobby shell of the La Concha Motel,

which operated on Las Vegas Boulevard South from 1961 to 2003

The core of the collection is from the old YESCO boneyard - the Young Electric Sign Company

A restored sign from the La Concha Motel sits at the beginning of the boneyard tour

The original sign from the now-closed Liberace Museum

There are signs from the Palms Casino Resort, from Lady Luck, Stardust, Caesar’s Palace,

the Golden Nugget and more

The Stardust Sign: 188 feet tall and 96 feet wide

Hopefully next time you head to Vegas you will stop by the Neon Boneyard - it will definitely grow your appreciation for the glitz and glamour of Sin City! Are there any places you've visited in Vegas that you recommend for our next trip?

xoxo. Alexandra

PS: Stay tuned for more of our Vegas Trip, including my event with Taraleigh and Twiddle at the Zappos Headquarters and our journey farther west to the One Love Cali Fest in Long Beach, California!
