TWIDDLE AT RED ROCKS

Photo: Adam Straughn

It’s so hard to put into words how incredible this weekend was - but I’m gonna try!!! As you saw in my last post, we checked into that beautiful AirBNB super late Thursday night and tried to get a good night sleep before the big day Friday. I had been to Red Rocks before, the first time Twiddle played, opening for The String Cheese Incident back in 2015 when Ryan and I first started dating. Since our family had never been we decided to go to Red Rocks early to try and catch soundcheck and it was SO worth it! It’s a beautiful sight to see during the day, especially from the top where you can catch views of Denver and the surrounding towns. The way the light of the sun catches on the rocks is absolutely breathtaking. Our family was in awe, but I tried to explain to them to just wait until it was filled to the brim with fans. Ryan brought us all back stage and we explored the tunnels under the amphitheater, which hold records of the bands that have played, the original blueprints of the venue, and signatures of people from all over the world that have come to visit. On one of the rooms I noticed the name of a VERY SPECIAL GUEST and got excited for what the night was going to hold. With the help of Twiddle’s crew we left a gift for The Lesh Family :). I took a few photos of the scenery, the venue, and the guys warming up before we hit the road to get ready for the show so check them out in the gallery below. I even found where we signed the tunnel Alex <3 Ryan 4Evers nearly three years ago! It’s crazy how much has changed since then!

When the time came to get to the venue I was already getting emotional! It’s such a huge honor for the guys to be able to headline Red Rocks and I just couldn’t be prouder! Not only did all of the fans get what they have been waiting for - THE RETURN OF FRANKENFOOTE after not being played for 140 shows (since NYE 2016) - but we also got amazing sit-ins from Todd Stoops on Apples, Grahame and Phil Lesh on Shakedown Street>White Light>Shakedown Street and the members of Stick Figure for the encore of Bob Marley’s Jamming and The Beatles’ With A Little Help From My Friends. It was definitely a jam packed show and you could see in the guys’ faces that they were fully enjoying every moment.

These are the moments that I enjoy most about being a tour wife. Seeing all of the smiling faces of fans, frends and family as the four guys we love the most do what THEY love the most! It is so fulfilling and there is definitely no place I would rather be than in the crowd watching my husband play his heart out! Oh, and the fact that Phil Lesh loved Ryan’s solo didn’t hurt either! I honestly can’t shake the glow and heart melting feelings from this weekend. BUT THAT WAS ONLY NIGHT ONE! So stay tuned later in the week for my post about Night Two when we headed back to Red Rocks for a night of fun with Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band.
