Guys I can’t believe how fast summer snuck up on us!!! Living in Vermont after a harsh winter we wish for the days of sunshine! Well all of a sudden it’s here and I couldn’t be happier. It’s definitely hard to keep up with the blog posts so please bear with me. We decided to kick of the summer at our favorite place, Ryan’s family cottage in Canada on Lake Weslemkoon. I absolutely fell in love with this place the first time we went when we had only been dating a few months. The cottage is only accessible by boat so you get a real sense of peace and quiet out there! Usually we go up with the whole family but this time we accompanied Ryan’s Dad, Steve, to help him open up the cottage and get it ready for the summer. The first few days Ryan and I put in so much hard work setting up the water system for the cottage (you may have seen his Facebook post about how excited he was about the new pressure tank!!!!) and raking up all of the leaves that had accumulated over the last year. We lined the path with fallen trees and driftwood and even lined the entire horseshoe court. It honestly is so rewarding to beautify a home that is so important to your family! PLUS, Steve rewarded us with his famous pizza which I think is the most delicious pizza we ever had! We also got to spend a ton of time with Ryan’s Aunt and Uncle, Simms and Scott, who live down in South Carolina. Their cottage is just down the path from Ryan’s family’s so each night we would either go out on the boat with them to watch the sunset or stay in, talk and listen to Twiddle! We even got to rewatch the entire Red Rocks show which was awesome! After a few days Ryan’s Dad left so it was just the two of us and Oscar. You know you’re in love when you can stay in the middle of the woods with little to no internet and be able to still have the best time ever. We spent our days out on the boat and our nights playing board games or reading (and drinking a little haha!) - and some nights I just laid on the couch listening to Ryan play piano! I can’t wait to head back there at the end of the summer. Check out all of my photos in the gallery below!
