MADAME JANETTE'S FAMILY DINNER TRADITION

Like I said in my previous posts, I’ve basically grown up in Aruba. I truly consider it my second home and have probably been there over twenty times. The only times that I’ve missed the trips with my family were when I was in college and the timing interfered with my first week of classes. I was so thrilled to finally be able to show Ryan this part of my life and especially to take him to Madame Janette’s.
Every year for as long as I can remember my family has picked on night out of our week long vacation to dress up and head into the center of the island for a dinner at Madame Janette’s. Since we came to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary this year the owners made it super special for us and sat us at the VIP table in the center of the garden. With the twinkling lights surrounding us we began our evening with some of the island’s famous Aruba Ariba cocktails.
We decided to start by sharing the crab cake appetizer but before we could even order it the chef brought out some of their delicious baked bread, special butter and the most amazing onion topping. I honestly wanted to order more bread because we couldn’t let the onions go to waste, so that is exactly what we did! Once the crab cakes arrived we were in heaven. They were some of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had, and Ryan and I absolutely love crab cakes and have had them all over the world.
After a few other appetizers including soups and salads, it was time for the main course. I am pretty set on my choice when it comes to Madame Janette’s. I’m sure that everything on the menu is delicious, but I wait all year to order the Gianni Versace. Ryan got the same, since he has heard me rave about it time and time again. And of course it did not disappoint!
Right as we were telling our waitress that we were too full for dessert and began to get ready to leave I saw a processional of staff come out with a large chocolate dessert. Written on the plate in chocolate syrup were the words “LOVE” and “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.” Even though we thought we were too full we finished the entire dessert and cheers-ed to our first year of marriage. I can’t thank the staff of Madame Janette’s enough for making it such a special evening.
