Every little girl hopes to grow up, meet her Prince Charming, fall in love, and live the fairytale happily ever after life. I mean who wouldn’t?! Falling in love is one of the most exciting, rewarding, and scariest things you could ever do. And when I met Ryan, I just knew my little girl dreams were coming true. They always tell you “when you know, you’ll know.” Well, I never actually believed that. But the day Ryan and I met, even though we had already been dating for two weeks (we’ll get to that later!), it was like my whole life fell into place. I knew that we were going to live our own version of a fairytale — one that would involve the highs of traveling the world, seeing amazing places and meeting beautiful people, and the lows of missing each other sometimes so much it actually, truly hurts.
Ryan and I started talking on Facebook after one of his “social experiments,” and if you know Ryan then you know he loves his social experiments! He had caught my attention and I must have caught his because we kept talking. Long chats turned into late night phone calls, which then turned into him asking me to be his girlfriend without us ever meeting. He was away on Spring Tour with Kung Fu and wouldn’t be back for a few weeks, but I followed my gut and said yes anyway. Talk about a leap of faith! And now here we are, two years later, engaged and living in a lovely farmhouse in Vermont with our dynamic family — me, him, a pug, and a duck.
I never really thought of dating a musician, let alone marrying one. Music has been such a big part of my life since I found Phish in college. I found “it” — a sense of community, amazing jams and lights … PURE BLISS! I found myself along the way; starting my own business, making friends that I know will last a lifetime, and seeing some of the most beautiful places in corners of this country I never expected to experience. But I never thought it would bring me a love like this. It's not just your regular couple in love kind of love. It’s hard to find people that understand the dynamic of the “tour wife tour life,” as I call it. You may be in different cities for months at a time, but when you finally get home to one another there is nothing like it.
I decided to start this blog as a place to not only share what it’s like loving and living with a rock star, but to also share a part of us. I hope you’re ready for a wild ride of crazy stories from the past, adventures from the road as we tour with our men, and the inevitable complaining that we’re lonely posts when we aren’t!
xoxo. Alexandra
