WHERE TO STAY | MY GUIDE TO STOWE, VERMONT: THE STOWEHOF

By now you all know how much we LOVE Stowe, Vermont! It was the first place Ryan and I ever lived together, and is just a short drive from where we live now. We also love a good staycation - so we recently decided to head to the mountain for a weekend getaway at The Stowehof. Located on 26 acres with panoramic views of Mount Mansfield, The Stowehof is a beautiful and charming inn reminiscent of a country lodge, with retro decor and hidden nooks throughout. Staying here means you are smack dab in the middle of the alpine Ski Capital of the East, with dog sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and sleigh rides just a short drive away. And if NONE of those things sound up your alley, you can always shop or enjoy the delicious food!

We’ve missed traveling so much so we were so excited to take a little trip over to The Stowehof to relax and enjoy all that the beautiful resort has to offer. They are even pet-friendly so we got to take Oscar with us, which was such a treat! The entryway to the hotel is stunning, with large trees on either side, and the lobby is beyond cozy — furnished in "beloved heirlooms and chalet nostalgia." As you enter the common area, you'll find that they even have large trees INSIDE! Choose from a few different fireplace areas, or relax by the floor to ceiling windows with views of the slopes. Unfortunately, during our visit their intimate downstairs bar and restaurant, named after world-famous mountaineer and one-time resident of The Stowehof, Fritz Wiessner, was closed due to a burst pipe (it was SO COLD that weekend!). Good news is, we will be heading back in a few weeks and can't wait to try their casual Vermont Bavarian menu!

We checked in to room 61, which features a clawfoot tub, spacious bedroom area, and the most serene views of the mountain and surrounding snow-covered forest! Waking up each morning to look out at the view was truly something special and definitely the perfect way to start the day. We spent our days skiing and evenings in the hot tub. There was no better way I could imagine to end each day! They even have a heated indoor pool which was warm enough to swim in.

Since the hotel's on-site restaurant was closed, we headed out to Edson Hill for dinner - which by the way was DELICIOUS! The ambiance is just as cozy as The Stowehof and I highly recommend everything we ordered. I had the Cavatelli & Mussels, while Ryan had the Rosemary Roasted Statler Chicken Breast. *CHEF'S KISS* You can choose to dine in the dining room or the downstairs tavern, depending on your vibe! On our second night out we chose to keep it casual and head to Piecasso one of our favorite pizzarias in the area. You can tell by the photos that we enjoyed ourselves :)

If you're ever in Stowe you should definitely head over to The Stowehof and experience it for yourself - we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay! While we were so sad to leave (as was Oscar!), we can’t wait to visit again and, hopefully, get to take even more adventures in the spring and summer!

xoxo. Alexandra
