Loving a musician has its ups and downs - and one of my favorite ups is that we get to travel to amazing parts of the world. Twiddle was invited to participate in the Jungle Jam music festival in Jaco, Costa Rica last week, and I was lucky enough to be Ryan's plus one ;). I hadn't seen him in over two weeks since he was traveling on the West Coast with the band so I couldn't wait to meet him down at one of our favorite vacation spots.

Jungle Jam is hosted by one of our great friends, Eric Freitas, who we've visited down in Costa Rica before, so it was nice to be back with familiar faces that we don't often get to see. We started the week off with a pre-party at Green Room, a local cafe that features live music nightly... and some DELICIOUS FOOD! Zach Deputy was performing an acoustic set and the boys had just landed earlier in the day. What a perfect way to start a week of music and fun in the sun! The next day would be the VIP private party with Twiddle to open the festival so we took it easy, enjoyed some music and were on our way to our resort on the edge of town.

After spending the day swimming in the ocean and basking in the sun we got ready for the music. The festival was located just off the beach in the center of town and featured some amazing artists. Slightly Stoopid, Thievery Corporation, Stick Figure, and Zach Deputy were just a few of the headliners that made their way down to Costa Rica to play alongside Twiddle. But some of my favorite acts of the week were some of the smaller bands and some artists that I had never seen. Ryan Montbleau, HIRIE and Roots of Creation stood out as my favorite sets of the week, aside from Twiddle of course!

Our ATV Adventure Crew
Heading out of town to music festivals is my favorite pastime, but the moments spent together with Ryan and our friends when there is no music going on can be even more special! Twiddle didn't have to play on Friday so we decided to make the most of the day and do some things we've never done in Costa Rica. We got a group of about twenty of us together and went on an intense four hour ATV tour through the jungle. Spending the day getting dirty, splashing through mud and rivers, and visiting waterfalls is one of my favorite memories of the trip in Jaco.

Plus, on the way back to town we stopped at an old abandoned restaurant which sported some of the best views of Jaco that I've ever seen!

Ryan and I ended the night seeing some more music at the festival and eating one of the most delicious meals I've had in Costa Rica! While walking through the city we found a small sushi restaurant and decided to stop in. We sat at the front table so we could watch the hustle and bustle of locals, also known as Ticos, and tourists heading out for the night. Not only was the food delicious but they plated the sushi for us in the shape of a heart! It was definitely a day I will never forget - filled with love, friends, adventure, music and delicious food - ALL OF MY FAVORITE THINGS!

YUMMMMM!
But that was only the first half of our vacation! Ryan and I decided to extend the trip an extra four days to celebrate his 31st birthday! Check back for a story of unplanned adventures in the remote towns we visited!
