When my sister, Samantha, and I decided we wanted to take a mini vacation with my mom to celebrate her birthday we knew we had to find the perfect spot! Sound View in Greenport literally says it is THE PERFECT SPOT on their website!...so we knew that would be the backdrop of our week long trip. I had never been to Greenport before and was pleasantly surprised when I saw just how much there is to actually do there, especially in the summer! Since we visited right after Labor Day some of the activities had already been shut down, but I will share them anyway in my Greenport Guide so you can get the most out of your trip no matter what season!
Greenport is only 100 miles from NYC so it is a great weekend getaway. At Sound View, we had a beautiful modern but beachy room with a beautiful view (they call it Sound View for a reason!). Every room has a waterfront deck, which was so nice to sit out on and relax. Honestly, relaxing is the theme there - you can take a painting class on the beach, do yoga by the sea, take a bicycle ride or get an in-room massage. One of the activities at Sound View that I absolutely loved seeing on the Activities Calendar was "Unsculpt at Sound View" where they encourage guests to collect marine debris and plastics to be used to create "environmentally conscious art" by local artist Cindy Pease Roe! Anything that helps the environment - COUNT ME IN!
Another thing I loved about staying here was the breakfast every morning! I usually miss the breakfast when we go away because they tend to end on the earlier side and I love to sleep in! The buffet lasted until 10:30!!!! And they had so many delicious options, which you could enjoy on their comfy couches with a view of the sea! Seriously, what is better than that! Sound View also has their own restaurant called The Halyard which is absolutely incredible! I had the lobster roll (delicious!) while sitting out on the deck, which was so peaceful!
If you are heading to Greenport, I highly recommend staying at Sound View! In my next post I will tell you guys a little bit more about what we did outside of the resort, so stay tuned for my recommendations!
xoxo. Alexandra
